Just before Christmas we planted something new at the side of our house which belongs to our private backyard. Now, after less than one month, we took some new pictures of our plants who amazingly survived pretty well the 41 C heat last Tuesday. When you compare the picture of the plants when they were little with the pictures what they look like now, you can see the growth that has occurred is very remarkable.

This is a trial post for inserting new pictures. I was finally able to upgrade my post. My VISA debit card wasn’t accepted. Peter helped me out with PayPal. This worked all right. It’s a great feeling to be able to publish some new pictures!

  1. Your garden is much like mine, good to see the tomatoes growing and strawberries, must admit I use shadecloth over mine due to the high temperature days like the 44 we had recently. They get watered twice a day, once in the cool of the morning and in the cool of the evening, they do tend to wilt quickly.

  2. Hi Ian,
for a number of years we gave up planting tomatoes for they never did very well for us. This year they seem to be thriving even though we planted them late in the year. They’ve been fertilised with worm poo! We must have picked a good brand seeing that the heat doesn’t effect them too much as long as they’re given sufficient water. In the afternoon they are in the shade. Maybe this helps.
I am happy with the herbs we planted where the tomatoes are. The herbs grow profusely. It’s lovely to be able to enrich the meals with fresh herbs!
    Cheers,
    Uta.

  3. Beautiful garden. It’s look so healthy and refreshingly cool to the eyes. It’s cold and grey here in Houston for weeks now and seeing this images brings some much needed color and sunshine. Have a blessed day my friend.

    1. Thanks for commenting, IT. A bit of garden can indeed brighten the day. To be honest we don’t always feel like doing a lot of work in the garden. We have only a tiny bit of garden around the house. Even this sometimes feels like too much work for us. But we like the looks of it and enjoy sitting outside in the shade of the trees!

  4. Hi Anne, thanks for commenting. I’m quite pleased with the way our garden looks at the moment. The past few weeks Peter and I made a great effort to put a few hours work each week into the garden. We find if we stick to this work on a regular basis, the work is more manageable. Quite often we get so distracted with other things that there’s not enough time left to do a bit of garden work.

  5. Yes, thanks, Pam. So far they’re still doing all right despite hot days. Last night we had some real heavy downpours. It’s still around 24 C outside. I think this is about 75 F.
