“My Crazy Century”

“My Crazy Century”

I just read this book review and am fascinated by what this Czech author has experienced during the course of his life, how he fared as a Jew under the Nazis and under Communism.

  1. I will check out this book Auntyuta, may I recommend to you a book you may find interesting, it is called The Noon Lady of Towitta, it is written by Patricia Sumerling, the book is based on fact with fiction and tells the story of an interesting era of a German family in the Barossa valley South Australia.

    1. A German family in the Barossa Valley South Australia. This sounds very interesting, Ian. I am curious whether any of the German settlers come from the same area where my paternal .ancestors come from.
      Cheerio, Auntyuta

  2. Hi Noeleen!
After the war as a teenager I became extremely enthusiastic about the concept of FREEDOM in all its forms. However I think freedom for all people is a very idealistic concept. I wished freedom for everyone was a possibility. Even today too many people still suffer under a totalitarian regime. And even in our democracies the concept of freedom can sometimes be abused by some people for political reasons. What makes it difficult seems to be that some people only want ‘rights’ without taking on responsibilities.
I wished I were a faster reader. Then I could read “My Crazy Century” as well as “The Noon Lady of Towitta” in no time. Sadly I happen to be a very slow reader and the books I would like to read are just piling up!
