Auntie, Sister. Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother and Wife of German Descent I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. I’m taken aback when I think about celebrating Christmas in the summer. Did it take you long to adjust? You must have had snowy Christmases in Germany.
Thanks for the question, dear Pat. Growing up in Germany I did not like the prolonged cold season all that much, especially during times when there was a shortage of heating. Sunny Australia seemed very attractive for us right from the start in 1959 when we arrived here. I think we quickly adjusted to going to the beach during Christmas holidays. It is very different from Christmas in the snow, for sure. We used to love it when there was snow around over Christmas. Snow at Christmas-time is beautiful, but having Christmas in summer can be very enjoyable too. 🙂
What lovely smiles all around, and so much togetherness….so good to see that!
Thanks for the lovely comment, dear Munira. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
