Australia is in trouble. Young Australians will have to save it, if you decide it needs saving.

Australia was a democracy. It has slowly become a Corporatocracy: government by Big Business. You will have to change that, if you think it is a bad thing. I will not tell you what to think.

You could argue that Australia is still a democracy. Australians vote in free and fair elections to decide who will run things until the next election.

You could argue that Australia believes in the principle of a free Press (or news media generally). The British parliament, the model for ours, recognised the Press as the Fourth Estate, granting it the right to sit in the parliament and report on the affairs of government.

We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories.   2. Hallo, liebe Gislinde. Ich hhoffe, es geht dir gut. Wir haben es nie bereut, nach Australien ausgewandert zu sein. Es ist ein sehr schönes Land. Australier waren immer stolz, dass hier jeder ‘a fair go’ bekommen kann. In den 1980s z.B. konnten unsere Kinder an der Universität umsonst studieren. So etwas wie ein freies Studium gibt es aber nunmehr nicht mehr. Es gibt jetzt noch nicht einmal genügend Ausbildungsplätze für die Jugendlichen. Unsere Industrie ist nach Asien übergesiedelt, wo weniger Löhne gezahlt werden. Die Grundstückspreise sind enorm in die Höhe gegangen. Leute die Miete zahlen müssen, sind arm dran, weil die Mieten sehr, sehr hoch sind. Die Arbeitslosigkeit unter den Jugendlich ist sehr hoch. Das ist Grund zur Sorge. Ja, auch das stimmt, dass es einige Leute gibt, die sich durch Korruption Millionen verdienen wollen. Aber du hast recht, das ist wohl leider überall so.
