Leon Panetta, 76, served under former US President Bill Clinton as White House chief of staff. He later served as defense secretary and the head of the CIA under President Barack Obama. He retired during the spring of 2013 and Penguin Press published his memoir, “Worthy Fights,” in October 2014.

Thanks for reading it, Pat. I think it is great that the internet makes it possible for people like me to get some additional information about what is going on in the world. I find this crisis in Europe very worrying.
I do, too. And I worry that my country will spread itself too thin. I don’t know how other countries feel about it, but I am grateful that our President is Obama and not knee-jerk Bush. He scared me to death. How do Aussies feel about that?
Our government of course always goes along with whatever the US does or is planning to do. Personally I feel that Obama has only very, very limited power.
