      1. This is what it says towards the end of the article:

Organised labour, a crucial Democratic Party ally, has lobbied strenuously against the deal. The AFL-CIO has vowed to buy advertising targeting 16 senators and 36 House members seen as potential swing votes.

Mr Obama, who pledged to double US exports when he took office six years ago, said he understands that labour unions and middle-income Americans are wary about free-trade accords that they blame for sending US manufacturing jobs overseas.

“People recognise that there have been circumstances in the past in which trade may have contributed to aggregate growth of the global economy or even the US economy, but hurt workers,” he said. “And we’ve learned lessons from that.”

SO, OBAMA SAYS THEY LEARNED LESSONS FROM THAT!!

        WHY SHOULD PEOPLE BELIEVE HIM?

  1. The whole reason Obama is pursuing TPPA so aggressively is to deliberately isolate China economically. It’s largely for this reason I’m puzzled by the leadership of Australia and New Zealand supporting this diabolical treaty. Because China is the major trading partner of both countries, joining TPPA could result in our countries being penalized if we continue trading with China – rather than giving preference to one of the 12 countries included in the treaty.
