June 1987
When Peter took these pictures from Stony Range Hill he must have been waiting for a train from the other direction going with a steam locomotive on that day in June 1987.

Love reading your memories of life in Australia. They almost reflect mine of life in New Zealand. Small children, trains, animals etc
Thanks for your visit here and at Sussex Inlet Nr. I, Judith
I reckon it is very good to have all these memories.
I am glad that you did like to have a look.
It’s funny how we all remember steam trains with such fond nostalgia – they were dirty, smelly things really, but I can still get very sentimental when I see one or have the chance to ride in one.
I say they were dirty indeed, Catt. In the early 1960s, when our eldest daughter was sick with polio in a hospital in Sydney. we often took two and three year old Martin and Monika on the steam train to Sydney for hospital visits. These were tiring days for the kids. By the time we got back home, the kids would be black all over!
In the first two pictures you see a Budd Rail Diesel Train. This train replaced the steam train already in the 1960s. To see a steam train in 1987 was very unusual and very exciting!
