Auntie, Sister. Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother and Wife of German Descent I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. Peter, my husband, is publishing some of his stories under berlioz1935.wordpress.com View all posts by auntyuta

It is a great place. I hope to go there again next week but it is a bit unsettling to think of actually moving and what about Milo? Pets are not allowed.
You cannot move without Milo, Gerard. In some cases they can perhaps make an exception for being allowed to have a dog who has been with you for a long time and does not “misbehave”. However I could see a difficulty, if for instance you cannot promise to have Milo on a lead at all times and or he cannot be kept within the confines of your property because there won’t be any fences at all.
Tragically, the man who built this dream died.

Thank you for this link, Gerard. I just read the whole, sad story. I found to this story another link:

Kerry Shephard is interviewed in December 2013, exactly one year after her husband’s death. By that time she apparently had sold her house near Currumbin Ecovillage. Here is some of what the Goldcoast paper writes:
“Since Walton’s death, Ms Shepherd and the couple’s 14-year-old son, Fin, have moved out of the world renowned Currumbin Eco-Village she created with her husband. It was just too painful.
“It broke our heart, but we just had to get out,” Ms Shepherd said.
“We created (the ecovillage) to live in but now it’s bittersweet. We still go there regularly, but I couldn’t live there now.”

Under the above link I found the following information:
The ecovillage contains 147 blocks of land ranging from 450m2 to 8000m2. Most are however sold. Some limited land parcels and completed homes are currently for sale.
Ken Jacob is a local “ecovillage and acreage” specialist and has sold many properties within the ecovillage over the years.
Please contact Michelle or Ken for more Ken_Jacobinformation on 0488 220 062 or email pa.ken.jacob@raywhite.com
For a current listing of the properties in the area (including some ecovillage homes) that Ken is the property sales agent for, see:

Worth moving to the other side of the world for!
I think, it would be great, Cat, if we all could live in some kind of Eco- Village!
Very inspiring.
🙂 For sure. But I think properties tend to become a bit expensive now.
