Peter arranged for a HOUSEHOLD CLEAN-UP SERVICE by Wollongong Council for Friday, 15th of January 2016. All items for disposal have to be out at the kerbsite by 6 am that day, but not more than 24 hours before. All recyclable items (like TVs, computers and mattresses) to be placed in a separate pile.
There are ten units (villas) in our complex. We had not asked for a clean-up service for quite some time. I expect, a lot of things are going to be thrown out. In our house more and more stuff is being piled up to go out for the clean-up day which is now only one week away.

Mother and Wife of German Descent
I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. Peter, my husband, is publishing some of his stories under berlioz1935.wordpress.com

That’s a great idea – sadly not practised here. I remember when I lived in Germany how useful the Sperrmüll day was – and how many items disappeared before the official truck arrived. Many people threw stuff out that others carried off in delight – better than a yard sale!
It seems to be the same here. Some people must be patrolling the streets. I have a pushbike that I will put out but do not expect it to be there for long.
Great idea. Good luck with getting rid of all that stuff (I am in that process too, although don’t have the luxury of the clean-up day as I live in a rural area).
We have to do it slowly, bit by bit, Elizabeth. The clean-up day is only the beginning. All our rooms need painting. C & M offered to do this for us. Yes, we all need good luck. 🙂

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure 🙂
For us, Cat, the call is: Reduce, reduce, reduce! 🙂
