I googled the following add about the Ocean Beach Hotel:

“Who said a room with a magnificent ocean view had to cost a small fortune? At the Ocean Beach Hotel Shellharbour, you can wake up to a beautiful Pacific Ocean sunrise for well under $100 for two people.

All rooms have their own bathroom, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and a TV. At meal times, you’re only a flight of stairs away from one of the areas finest seafood restaurants.”

Our son had come from Melbourne for a visit. He was staying with us for a couple of nights and then drove on to Newcastle. Our daughter Monika, who is on leave right now, drove us last Wednesday for lunch to the Ocean Beach Hotel. The friendly girl, who had taken our orders, volunteered to take a picture of the four of us.

    1. I had a huge salad with pumpkin, feta cheese and I think these yummy soft kernels could have been cooked barley. We all enjoyed our meal. Sharing my meal with Peter plus some extra chips we both had plenty to eat for the portions were quite large.
      Monika offered Peter a bit of her fish, and Peter gave her a bit of his chicken. We had asked to put the chicken pieces on a side dish, We could not get the salad without any chicken, meaning it costs $18 no matter whether you had the chicken with it or not. So Peter got the chicken and we shared the salad and the side dish of chips. This was really totally sufficient for the two of us and it cost us only $21. Peter also had a beer, but I wanted only tap water, which is free in Australia as opposed to Berlin. During our stay in Berlin we soon found out they charged for water more than for beer and no free water was being served, none at all. 🙂
      I am sure, Gerard, you’d be able to get some lovely seafood at this Ocean Beach Hotel. You and Helvi should try it. In Shellharbour Village there are also quite a few other very nice eating places. But the Beach Hotel definitely has the best view! 🙂

  3. Great little write up on the Ocean Beach hotel Uta, you are right, if you hunt around you can actually find some real gems, we like exploring the homely Bed and Breakfasts.
