The illustrious career of Rex (Bucket) Jackson.

With the latest finger pointing at Obeid and his antics in front of Icac I wonder if some of you still remember Rex Jackson. There is a world of difference between the two!

Rex (bucket) Jackson was really the epitome of a charming effervescent man. He was also minister for Youth and Community services, of Corrective services and a little later minister for Transport in the NSW Labor Government during the mid seventies and early eighties after which he suffered his spectacular fall from grace.

His love of dogs is what is supposed to have led him to his downfall. He was a regular fixture at Dapto dogs and Wentworth…

A handwritten note, a crown and a wreath: items on Queen’s coffin and what they signify

items on Queen’s coffin and what they signify

1. Handwritten note

Nestled among the flowers of the Queen’s funeral wreath was a handwritten card by her son King Charles III, which read: “In loving and devoted memory, Charles R.”

2. Flowers

At King Charles’s request, the wreath on top of the Queen’s coffin contains flowers and foliage from the royal properties of Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, in London, and Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. Also at the King’s request, the wreath was sustainable, and affixed in a nest of English moss and oak branches.

The wreath contains myrtle, the ancient symbol of a happy marriage, cut from a plant that was grown from a sprig of myrtle in the Queen’s wedding bouquet in 1947. It also contains rosemary as a symbol of remembrance and English oak, a national symbol of strength, in a nod to the Queen’s constancy and steadfast duty. Other foliage includes pelargoniums, garden roses, autumnal…

Uta’s Diary

I wrote all this eight years ago in August!

auntyuta's avatarAuntyUta

We are close to the end of August 2014. A lot has happened the past few weeks. The best thing that happened was our family reunion at Sussex Inlet. It was only for a weekend, but it was a great success. I already published several blogs about this beautiful weekend.

The weeks after, right up to today, we had much, much rain. There was hardly any sunshine. When the sun came out a bit, it felt rather warm. But the rest of the time we had to cope with rather cold temperatures. From 1st of September on we are supposed to have spring. I hope it is going to be much sunnier and warmer then. Yes, I am looking forward to September.

It is only about three more weeks till my 80th birthday. This is really a milestone, isn’t it? Maybe it is about time for me to learn to…

I thought, I do mostly avoid processed food. But looking at the examples in this article, I must admit, I could make lots of improvements in my diet!

  • Prior research has shown that poor diet may be associated with 1 in 5 deaths globally.
  • Recently, researchers at Tufts University found that a diet high in ultra-processed foods puts a person at greater risk for developing colorectal cancer.
  • Another team of Italian researchers suggests that people with the lowest-quality diet and highest levels of ultra-processed food consumption have a higher risk of both all-cause and cardiovascular death.

The food we eat can play a much greater role in health and longevity than many people may realize. In fact, previous researchTrusted Source suggests that 1 in 5 deaths around the world could be prevented by improving diet.

Now, two new studies recently published in the journalThe BMJexamine the effects of ultra-processed foods on certain health conditions.

Pesto Time: Past, Present, and Future

This is a beautiful blog!

nagneberg48's avatarLiving on Life's Labyrinth

August 23, 2020

These days my morning meditation time is spent first in the garden and then in the kitchen. The basil hedge calls, “Nancy, it is time to make pesto.”

The Present

Before clipping enough basil for two batches of pesto, I run my palms through the leaves, filling the coolness of the morning air with the aroma that whispers, “green,” “fresh,” “delicious.” I smell my hands, telling myself to remember this day when the garden is bare and in hibernation.

I fill the gathering basket and promise I will harvest more the next day –and the day after that until both the basil and I, the harvester, are done.

On the way back into the house, my gathering basket on my arm, I pause and listen to the bees humming as they keep the allium company. I know this may sound silly, but they remind me of the…

O’ that we crossed that bridge of dreams.

I am looking forward to read all this! 🙂

“Man is forbidden to concern himself with anything but the struggle for bread. If his capacity for dreaming, imagining, inventing and experimenting is killed in the process, man will become a well-fed robot and die of spiritual malnutrition. The dream has its function and man cannot live without it.” …Anais Nin..: “Journals ; Vol’ 3.

Once upon a time humanity in the West moved about from mountain forest to open plain, from village to city armed with a plethora of myths and superstitions that were the backbone of the individual cultures and even individual tribes within those cultures and even right down to local villages with their “haunted” locations or sacred places with local copse or deep pools of water. We carried our favoured talismans to ward off evil or to invite kind spirits whilst on our travels.

The world of the Pagan…(Paganus ; Latin : of the village/countryside) was…

Why is Amnesty International FINALLY Reporting on Kiev’s War Crimes Months Later?

“Amnesty International has a long track record of selling lies to the public to help justify US military aggression . . .”

“Selling Lies!” Is that something, you want to know about or not?

stuartbramhall's avatarThe Most Revolutionary Act

Greanville Post

NGOs like Amnesty, HRW and others have long played a role in the West’s disinformation campaigns

Amnesty International has a long track record of selling lies to the public to help justify US military aggression [Iraq and Libya are examples, as explained in video] both direct and by proxy all under the guise of “human rights” advocacy . Often when it is too late to reverse the damage done, Amnesty puts distance between itself and its lies to prepare for the next propaganda campaign. How has this played out in Ukraine now that the US proxy war there is in full swing?

An Advanced Society.

Very interesting!

The Advanced Society.

In his book The Road to Serfdom, Freidrich Hayek asserts that the economic freedom of capitalism is a requisite of political freedom… with continual growth being the mechanism that feeds such “economic freedom”.

So we have to propose the question : What makes an “Advanced Society”?

Could it be that as proposed by Hayek above?..Or is it something more basic…more durable…more sustainable than the capitalist notion of continuous growth / continuous consumption? Can it be presumed that a technological advanced society holds greater ethical dominance and therefore deserved racial dominance over the more stable tribal structures that once were spread throughout the Australian environment for tens of thousands of years?

Consider these examples..

Eucalyptus Largiflorens (Black Box) : Distribution and occurrence: Local community dominant, in grassy woodland on heavy black clay soils in seasonally flooded areas;

In this area of Sth. Aust’…
