In June 2012 Malcolm Fraser was asked to give the 2012 Gough Whitlam Oration and he said:
“I am honoured to be asked to make this speech.”
During his speech, Malcolm Fraser said:
“I am reminded of some words of Abraham Lincoln:
I am not bound to win,
but I am bound to be true,
I am not bound to succeed,
but I am bound to live up to what light I have.
I must stand with anybody that stands right,
stand with him while he is right,
and part with him when he goes wrong.”
I think maybe some of our politicians would do good to think a bit about these words by Abraham Lincoln.
