Auntie, Sister. Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother and Wife of German Descent I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. Peter, my husband, is publishing some of his stories under berlioz1935.wordpress.com View all posts by auntyuta

That is SUCH a typical German dish, and must have brought back so many memories at every mouthful! But shouldn’t you have been drinking a Berliner Weissbier with it? 🙂
Well, the Berliner Kindl Export wasn’t too bad with it. I remember the Berliner Kindl motif from my childhood days. It hasn’t changed.
Genehmigt!! That makes it the perfect accompaniment in that case. It’s all about nostalgia, isn’t it? AND the rote Grütze looks delicious too.
The black pudding looks intriguing. What is it made with? Is it anything like Boudin Noir? If so, then it must be delish!
Black pudding in German is ‘Blutwurst’. Boudin Noir (I looked it up), seems to be very similar. This kind of sausage is very spicy. I like it when its mixed with some barley.
