Essendon is part of Melbourne. We went there to a beautiful Garden Centre called ‘Poyntons’. We admired all the wonderful displays and flowers and shrubs for sale. We went a bit further up where the cafe is situated. We had lunch there but no desert even though there was a good selection of cake available. They had some specially brewed local beer. Also freshly squeezed juices. Where we were sitting in the cafe we had a good view of the river Yarra. Our son Martin and granddaughter Lauren came with us to Poyntons. Martin drove the car there. Ample parking was available in a separate parking area.

Auntie, Sister. Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother and Wife of German Descent I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. What a delightful place – beam me over there, Scotty!
Ah Catt, there were also wonderful succulents.and I took lots of pictures of them. Unfortunately I had to make a choice of what to publish for I took heaps of other pictures too and I couldn’t possibly publish them all. .On top of it I definitely could have taken a lot more pictures other then the ones I did take. Maybe next time I should try a video. You’re right, it is a delightful place. Whenever I’m in Melbourne I love to go there.
What a great place to visit, Aunty. Thanks for taking us with you. What was the weather like when you were there?
Hi Mary-Ann, the weather in Melbourne was kind of mixed. It was pleasantly warm .when there was sunshine. Sometimes it rained a bit. The nights were quite cold, a bit like winter already. Poyntons is a wonderful place to visit. Al ways love to go there!
What a delightful, man made piece of heaven. We always insist of going there when in Melbourne. Here you can see the creative spirit of some people – culinary and botanical. 🙂
Thanks for commenting, Berlioz. What you say about the creative spirit is spot on!
The flowers are great, but the FOOD! That stuffed capsicum really caught my eye.
I took a picture of it because of its beautiful colour. As I told Cath, I think next time I should try to capture much more of all the displays by making it a video. I imagine in a video I could show probably more than in a hundred individual pictures!
Maybe so, but I love being able to gaze at the images one at a time, too.
What a fabulous garden! I love the interesting and beautiful pieces of art mixed in with the plants. Right from the start I noticed those adorable owls and would love to have them for my own! 🙂 What a relaxing day!
Oh yes, it is truly relaxing to look around in this place. 🙂
A dream garden to visit. So much colors and life. Then there’s the yummy foods. A perfect day indeed.
Imagine, IT, we went there on a weekday for lunch. It’s not an inner city area with a lot of offices. In Melbourne, Victoria, kids were back to school already after the Easter holidays. Still the place was busy, busy, busy. It’s that popular! There were lots of seats in the cafe, inside and outside. But nearly every seat was taken. The four of us were lucky to get a table for lunch!
Martin, our son, took once his son, daughter-in-law and their kids to lunch there. Of course the grand-kids very much liked it! I would have loved this too as a kid! Most of the pictures I took I didn’t even show here. But I see you get an idea what the place is like.
Never been there Auntyuta in all my visits to Melbourne, but guess it may not have been established back in the days I was there, a beautiful garden, love the lavender and the food looks fantastic.
Cheers
Ian
