Today was Melbourne Cup Day in Australia. Fashions are very important on that day. When you go to the above link you can get a bit of a glance at some of the fashions. Enjoy! 🙂

Auntie, Sister. Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother and Wife of German Descent I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. Peter, my husband, is publishing some of his stories under berlioz1935.wordpress.com View all posts by auntyuta

Great post, Aunty Uta :). Many in the world wouldn’t know this day for us today. It’s amazing it’s a public holiday, if you ask me!!
It was a good slideshow. A lot of red (which I love).
I’m glad you liked it, Noeleen.
Peter and I had a small bet on Fiorente. We liked it that Gai Waterhouse finally won a Melbourne Cup, and we were happy for Damien Oliver too. After a long time another win, his third. He’s a great jockey.
Well Auntyuta, fashions are not my forte, neither is backing the winner of the bloody race.
Cheers
Ian
Never mind, Ian. For us it is a little bit of excitement on Melbourne Cup Day, which after all happens only once a year! 🙂
Cheers

As always, regarding high fashion, some of it is lovely, and some just stimulates a good head scratch! 🙂
In Victoria the Melbourne Cup Day is a public holiday. But even from interstate or overseas a lot of people travel to Melbourne for this important race day. For the ladies it is ‘compulsory’ to dress up and wear outrageous hats! 🙂
