I am extremely worried that warships could become nuclear targets.

“Why believe the hysteria that Lithuania is Russia’s next target? It’s just an example of very bad theatre. The only people it is good for is the weapons producers,” said Mr Mikhail Vanin, Russian ambassador to Denmark.

    1. “Denmark would be part of the threat against Russia. It would be less peaceful and relations with Russia will suffer. It is, of course, your own decision – I just want to remind you that your finances and security will suffer. At the same time Russia has missiles that certainly can penetrate the future global missile defence system,” Mr Vanin said.

“Denmark’s Foreign minister, Martin Lidegaard, reacted strongly to the comments, calling the ambassador’s statement “unacceptable”.
“If that is what he has said, then it is unacceptable. Russia knows full well that Nato’s missile defence is defensive and not targeted at (Russia)”

iF YOU WERE A RUSSIAN, WOULD YOU BE SO SURE THAT NATO’S MISSILE ‘DEFENCE’ SYTEM IS N O T TARGETED AT RUSSIA?
HAS RUSSIA NOT THE RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF?

WHY ON EARTH DOES NATO HAVE TO GO SO CLOSE TO RUSSIA’S BORDERS AND RUSSIA’S SPHERE OF INFLUENCE?

      1. Mr Vanin calls this hysteria about Lithuania a very bad theatre and says the only people it is good for is the weapons producers.
I wished the Western powers would refrain from treating Russia as an enemy. I thought “the cold war” was over. Why can’t we have ‘normal’ relations with Russia as well as China? Does there always need to be a confrontation that leads to war?
So, who gains from a war? Only the weapons producers! We should work for peace, not war. Defence is all right but we should stay within our spheres of influence. If we want resources from other countries, we should do fair trade with them, not threaten their independence!

  1. I say it’s about time that someone stood up to US military aggression. Given the massive threat we face to the gobal biosphere, this should be the entire focus of sane foreign policy – not silly American imperialistic wars.

    1. I wished, Stuart, that we would have changed some of our thinking after the disaster of the Vietnam war! How can anyone forget this war and what happened there?
