We arrived in Berlin on the 31st of May 2010. We had booked an apartment in Bastian Strasse in Wedding, the north of Berlin. It was a studio apartment with kitchen, balcony and bathroom. We loved the little balcony. It was perfect for sitting outside with a cup of coffee or tea and a bite to eat. The sun was on it nearly all day.
We had this little apartment all to ourselves for four weeks. The fifth week we spent in Neu-Canow with my brother and his wife. And the last week of our holidays Peter’s sister put us up in her very small apartment. But more about this later.
I think we were the last guests in that apartment in Bastian Street. The lady who owned this place said she was about to sell the place to a young couple.

Alles Liebe, deine Uta. 🙂
My Mom swore she would never visit Germany. She kept her promise. However, I have often thought about visiting. The photos certainly look inviting.
We went to Berlin again in September 2012, Robert. The apartment in Bastian Strasse was not available anymore. We were lucky and could rent an apartment right in the centre of Berlin next the Tiergarten, a very beautiful very large park. This studio apartment was not expensive either, but we had to rent it for two months! The owners said they could not let it for less time since this apartment was not supposed to be for holidaymakers.
I don’t know whether you’ve seen photos from our 2012 trip. With the following link you can find out what we were up to in Australia before we left for the trip and then our first few weeks in Berlin!

That apartment back in 2010 looked just perfect for a few weeks. You would have enjoyed sitting on that balcony with café und kuche.
Sure, it was good to have our own place and it was not expensive. Lots of shops and public transport a few steps from where we lived! 🙂
