Senator Rand Paul has urged the President to stick to the position on Syria that he espoused before taking office – that military intervention will do more harm than good.

The Senator retweeted a tweet from Trump posted in August of 2013, when a similar chemical weapon attack to this week’s was blamed on the Syrian government.

At the Time Trump tweeted “What will we get for bombing Syria besides more debt and a possible long term conflict? Obama needs Congressional approval.”

Stuart, I think it shows that Trump did not know at the time that ‘Wall Street and the military industrial complex’ would never let him go ahead with such plans like trying to stay out of military conflicts.

  1. No matter what happens with or without Trump, America will never be ‘great’ again. It’s the Chinese’s turn next. The speed of the Chinese economy lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty is something the US, even in its heyday never really achieved.
Of course, people claim China is not a democracy. Australia claims it is a democracy but keeping people locked up for years without trial, what worth that democracy?

    1. What worries me, Gerard, is, that America is still the greatest nuclear power. And they do not care that all this bombing and involving themselves in more and more conflicts gets them more and more into debt. As Stuart points out, Wall Street and the military industrial complex now captured Trump. Nobody who gets big profits out of this is concerned about the suffering of millions of people.
