Thanks for posting this, Auntie. I’m very concerned about a friend of mine who is 69 and female who was just prescribed statins. The medical guidance is quite clear that women over 65 shouldn’t be prescribed statins unless they have a history of heart disease or stroke because there is a clear link in women between statins and developing diabetes. And yet so many doctors mindlessly prescribe them.
It’s a matter of whom can you trust, isn’t it? 🙂
I personally don’t trust doctors at all owing to a lifetime of being given wrong diagnoses and inappropriate treatments owing to the failure of most GPs to keep up with the medical literature. If I have to see a doctor, I make sure to research my condition first and to take a support person with me.
Yea, one has to be lucky to end up with a GP or specialist who has kept up with the medical literature. I am very impressed, that Peter is given now Vitamin C tablets at Wollongong Hospital! 🙂
