Sunday Diary

Here in Australia it is nearly 7AM now. So, Good Morning everyone!

Yesterday I was thinking a lot of my dear sister-in-law. Her name is Ilse. She turns 90 this year in May, on the 13th of May that is. I wished I could go and visit her! My husband Peter had his birthday on the 16th of May. So, Peter and his sister Ilse had been just one year and three days apart. Peter and Ilse had always been very close. Peter and I migrated in 1959 from Germany to Australia. Over the years Peter and I went often for visits to Germany and Ilse did visit us several times here in Australia and liked Australia very much. Ilse still lives in Berlin, Germany. Ilse and Peter often talked to each other on the phone right to his end. (Peter passed away in December 2020.)

Two years ago, in May 2022, I had the chance to fly to Berlin for a short visit. It was great that I could see dear Ilse then for her 88th birthday. I wished I could visit her again this year for her birthday!

I could write more now, however I want to restrict myself and stop with writing at this stage to start the day. I wish for everyone to have a good Sunday. See you tomorrow again!

  1. Such precious memories! Thanks for sharing them! How wonderful to have such a long, loving relationship with your sister-in-law (did I understand/ remember that relationship correctly?)

  2. Happy Early Birthday to Ilse! 🙂 Oh, I wish you and Ilse could get together to celebrate! 🙂
My MIL made it to 95…my mom made it to 97…and my mom had an uncle who lived to 107! 😮 Most of the rest of my relatives didn’t make it that long.
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️

  3. Thanks for your comment, dear Carolyn. I think to make it into your 90s is quite an achievement. I do not know anyone in my family who made it into their 90s. 🥰

  4. Yes it is a good age Uta and healthy I hope. Not in my family either parents both in their Late 50’s. That is the way it goes I suppose. Not to bring the mood down , your sister-in ;aw sounds like a wonderful Lady , and friends with each other is a a bonus.

  5. Yes Sheila, it is so good to know Ilse. It is so amazing, that she is always so cheerful and loving dispite her back problems. She has had back problems all her life. But she still loves her life. The mother of Ilse, Peter and Eva made it to 86. Eva died a bit before Peter died.
Thanks for commenting, dear Sheila. You’ve been a good friend for such a long time. It is always good to hear from old friends. I looked at your blog where you say that you moved to a village and are getting used to the new environment. May you feel very comfortable in that new place! Love, Uta ❤
