TRAM ROUTE MAP EAST BRUNSWICK – ST KILDA BEACH:

On Monday, the 17th of August, 2015, we were still in Melbourne.

https://auntyuta.com/2015/08/22/last-cab-to-darwin/

After Peter and I  had seen the movie “Last Cab to Darwin” in the KINO in Melbourne, it was our plan to get to the Monarch Cafe. We knew that TRAM 96 would take us there to ST KILDA.

Somewhere in the city we got unto the 96 tram. We soon found out it was not going to St Kilda but to Brunswick. This meant we had to get off the tram and catch a tram into the other direction. The trams come along every six or seven minutes. So we were soon on our way towards ST KILDA. There are several stops within ST KILDA. We were not sure where to get off. Somehow the Canterbury Road stop looked to us like the right stop. Wasn’t that the corner where Acland Street was with the Monash Cafe just around the corner. we thought. It turned out we were wrong. There was no Acland Street. It took us quite a while and a lot of walking before we found Acland Street and the way to our chosen cafe. When we finally made it, we had some yummy cake and coffee. Next time we know we have to get off at Belford Street, just one stop before the terminal.

In April 2013 we were in Melbourne. Martin and his daughter Lauren went with us to ST KILDA.

There's even a bus stop in front of the cafe. Maybe on Sundays there aren't any buses, this is why people parked their cars there.

Caroline and Matthew were with us last Sunday, July 27th. Caroline offered to drive us to the highlands. Caroline and Matthew were sitting in the front, so Peter and I could relax in the back. Caroline managed very well to drive all of us up MacQuarie Pass in our little car. We were aiming for a village called Burrawang, where Peter and I had been some time ago. We had quite liked this historical little place and were happy we could go there for another visit.

Here we had a cup of coffee and some cake.

Here is what I googled about Burrawang and Wildes Meadow:

“Burrawang is a village in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia in Wingecarribee Shire. According to the 2011 Australian census, Burrawang’s population was 238”

“Wildes Meadow is a hamlet village in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, in Wingecarribee Shire. Due to its location, it does not receive many passers by, and so the tourism industry has suffered as a result.”

Now, if ever we had the idea to relocate to one of these places, just seeing what is on offer for buying would make us give up this idea quick smart. The problem is, that in order to live in one of these places we would have to invest millions which certainly we do not have. Still, even if we cannot live there it is within our reach to visit these places. Actually, this is good enough for me. I am not complaining, not at all.

A charming country cottage idyllically set on 27 acres of serene landscape, now doesn’t this sound lovely? Well, I can keep dreaming about places like this, can’t I? However, I know it is just a dream!

Maybe this is a good way to make a living if you live in this area.

Exactly one week ago we splashed out on some cake in St.Kilda. After Peter and I had spent some time in Central Melbourne around Swanston Street, we met up with Martin and Lauren again. The four of us boarded a tram to St.Kilda.

This cake was placed in one of the beautiful boxes for us to take home.

A Family comes to visit

We soon found out that there was a great baker’s shop in the neighbourhood. Peter usually went down there early in the morning to get fresh bread rolls for breakfast plus a piece or maybe two pieces of cake! There was always a great selection of different cakes to choose from.

One Morning Peter bought this selection of different breads.

On Saturday (15th September 2012) Peter went down to get extra cakes for the guests we were expecting for afternoon coffee that day. When they pressed the bell Peter asked them to wait downstairs; he was to go down to guide them to the lift and show them the way to our apartment! I waited upstairs at the lift. Out came my nieces lovely family. There she was, my beautiful niece Corinna with Walter and son Carlos Emilio. Carlos had grown so much since I had seen him more than two years ago.

Even though I still suffered a bit from this nasty cold, we had a lovely afternoon together.
