Auntie, Sister. Grandmother, Great-Grandmother,
Mother and Wife of German Descent
I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. Peter, my husband, is publishing some of his stories under berlioz1935.wordpress.com

Happy birthday auntyuta! I am enjoying following your travels!
Thanks John. I’ll soon follow up on your great hiking trip. Keep enjoying it. One of my cousins, who turned 86 recently, passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon after experiencing a severe stroke two weeks ago. I just received the message by email. Now I’m waiting to see when the funeral is going to be.
A peaceful passing is a blessing when the time comes. Sorry for your loss auntyuta.
Happy birthday, Uta. What a grand age and to be so ft and able to enjoy it travelling around. Wow. You have my admiration.
Thanks, Elisabeth. You are right, it’s kind of amazing that Peter and I are still fit enough to do all this. On top of it we are able to do it on a shoestring, so to speak. Otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to travel like this. It’s going to be another eight weeks before we return to Australia.
Happy birthday, Uta. Your joy and enthusiasm in the happy times with family, travels and general interest in life is an encouragement that growing older is celebration! I am so glad you had a lovely day. The flowers were really lovely! Debra
Thanks, Debra. You are right, growing older can be a celebration. We just have to accept that we have to slow down a lot all the time. I love flowers with bright colors. I don’t know yet how next week is turning out for us because we just received the sad news of a cousin of mine having passed away yesterday. She lived and died in MΓΌnchen.
Happy birthday Auntyuta, I see you had a beautiful day,I wish you many more birthdays.
I must say that I certainly like the look of that pizza, beautiful flowes for a beautiful girl also

Aunty Uta
Sounds like a lovely birthday! Love all the yummy food too π Many many happy healthy returns Aunty Uta! Much love to you from me.
Indeed, it was a happy day, Munira. The following day I received the news of my cousin having passed away. I knew she had had a massive stroke two weeks ago. So her passing came not all that unexpected. Still it revives a lot of memories plus the feeling who in my generation may be to follow —- ? Her daughter, whom we love very much, tells us now it’s going to be a cremation burial and probably won’t take place before October 5th.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Terry. Have a nice week!
Happy birthday, Aunty Uta. What milestone at 78! Here’s to 10 and 20 more of blogging, celebrating, traveling and taking us with you!
Hi Mary-Ann, we met Lily Brett today, the author. Her father is 94 or 96, anyhow, pretty old, living in New York same as Lily Brett and her husband David Rankin, the painter. We love the books Lily Brett wrote. She often writes about her father, a very dear old man. I don’t know whether I or Peter can make it to such a grand old age. But thanks for your good wishes.
Oh, that’s marvelous! Happy, happy beautiful birthday to beautiful you!
Thank you very, very much!
Happy birthday, Uta. I’m a bit late, I fear. The berries look yummy!
Thanks, Pat. I didn’t write a new blog for about a week or so. One day after my birthday a dear cousin of mine passed away. Next week is going to be a Memorial Service for her. The raspberries were yummy!
I’m sorry for your loss.
Thanks, Pat.

Thank you very much, dear IT, for all your good wishes. Since my birthday we’ve been out every day taking hundreds of photos. Today is going to be a very busy day again. I’ll try to publish just a few of the photos over the weekend.
Wow, & congrats. To think, that day will come to me…. You seem to be living so very well. Wishing the best for you.
