Today, on the 5th December, is Monika’s birthday. She invited us for afternoon coffee and cake. Monika’s daughter Krystal baked a beautiful chocolate cake which Monika filled with lovely jam and fresh cream and decorated the top with grated chocolate and cherries. It turned out to be the most delicious Black Forest Cake!

wünsche dir auch einen schönen Tag. Die OP habe ich recht gut überstanden, nur mit meinem Blutdruck sind einige Probleme entstanden. Ja, gestern war Monikas Geburtstag. Sie wurde 55 Jahre. Unsere jüngste Tochter, Caroline, wird am 9. Dezember 35 Jahre. Die beiden Mädchen sind also genau 20 Jahre auseinander. Unser Sohn, Martin, wird im April 54 Jahre. Gaby, unsere älteste Tocher ist voriges Jahr kurz vor ihrem 55. Geburtstag verstorben.
Peter und ich machen z.Z. einen Kurzurlaub an einer wunderschönen Beach. Es scheint die Sonne und wir fühlen uns wohl. 🙂

Peter and I stay in a cabin at Bulli Beach right now. We booked in for Friday and Saturday night. We are lucky with the weather so far. Beautiful sunny and balmy. 🙂

Happy Birthday to Monika. It appears to have been a festive and delightful occasion.
On the 5th of December it was actually just afternoon coffee and cake with some family, Robert. On Sunday the 1st of December we were already pre-celebrating Monika’s birthday together with (belatedly) Mark’s birthday. (More family members were able to come on a Sunday.)
Now we are looking forward to see everyone at our place for celebrations on Christmas Eve! 🙂

Die Torte (der Kuchen) sieht schön aus! Das finde ich auch. And it did not only look good, it also tasted really great!
We are back now from our little holiday at the beach. Tomorrow we are off to Sydney to spend the day with our youngest daughter who turns 35 tomorrow! 🙂

Bulli Beach was only a twenty minute drive from our home. The two days we spent there are well worth remembering. 🙂

Es geht mir wirklich schon wieder viel besser, liebe Gislinde, Heute muss ich noch einmal meinen Arzt sehen.
Gestern verbrachten wir einen schönen Tag bei unserer Tochter Caroline in Sydney. Wir machten sehr viele Bilder, denn es war ja Carolines Geburtstag. Einige Bilder werde ich vielleicht bald zeigen.
Auch von der Bulli Beach sind noch viele Bilder zu bearbeiten! 🙂

Black forest cake is one of my favorites. What a tasty way to celebrate a birthday.
Traditionally, Renee, we always bought a Black Forest cake for family celebrations. This was the first time that we had a home made Black Forest cake, Krystal doing the baking and Monika the decorating. I was amazed how absolutely perfect it turned out to be! 🙂

When I learned German in school, the teacher one day brought in Black Forest Cake. We each had to bring money, and I remember having my piece and it was HEAVENLY. I loved it. But it KILLED me that some of the girls tossed it in the bin with complaint !!!!! I’ll never forget my horror!
So, seeing that photo totally brought me back. Oh yum – great event!
