FROM THE 25TH TO THE 28TH OF AUGUST 2016 we stayed in the Forrest Hotel that is situated in the National Circuit marked light blue on the above map.
“Forrest Hotel & Apartments
Located in the quiet Canberra suburb of Forrest, this hotel is less than 10 minutes’ drive from Parliament House and the National Gallery of Australia.”
Our room in the Forrest Hotel
Before we checked in into the Forrest Hotel we went for lunch at the cafe in Parliament House, and we also went around for a bit looking at areas inside and outside the Parliament.
We each had a beautiful salad served on barley.I had quail eggs and tofu with the salad, and Peter had salad and chicken on barley. It was nice sunny outside but a bit to windy to be sitting there for our lunch.Walking around outside, we had this view.We noticed this plaque on the ground. And there was this statue.
For a while I did sit outside in the sun.
Peter took this picture as I was walking up these stairs.

I've lived in Australia since 1959 together with my husband Peter. We have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I started blogging because I wanted to publish some of my childhood memories. I am blogging now also some of my other memories. I like to publish some photos too as well as a little bit of a diary from the present time. Occasionally I publish a story with a bit of fiction in it. Peter, my husband, is publishing some of his stories under berlioz1935.wordpress.com

Looks like a very interesting visit – bet you were worn out by the end of the day with so much walking!
We spent three nights in the Forrest Hotel in Canberra, Cat. I think all these nights I had some very good sleep, for each day we did fit in quite a lot of sight seeing! I guess, we both felt kind of worn out by the end of each day. 🙂 But I must say, we do have very good memories of our recent visit to Canberra.
Thanks for commenting, dear Cat.
Lovely photos. The place is a bit over the top but I suppose it has to look better than an administration block. That light fitting looks very art deco. Queen Elizabeth looks very regal, and stern while she withstands the winds of time. I’m looking forward to our visit some time in the future. You have piqued my interest.

Yes, I think Canberra is well worth a visit. I am sure you’d find it very interesting.
