Saturday

The weeks go so quickly. I can’t believe it’s Saturday again. Last Saturday we were at that conference in Sydney. I think on the Saturday before this I went to the swimming pool. Actually I would love to go to the swimming pool again today even if it is a cloudy day with no sun. The water in the pool is always kept at 24C.

I definitely have to go for walks again today whether there’s sun or not. Last Thursday it was pouring. So I missed out on my walk on that day. But Peter drove me to my heart moves class, which was good. Marta. our instructor,  had to cancel.  But lovely Janet was prepared to take her place on short notice.  Janet said Marta had a pinched nerve, I think she mentioned her back. My pinched nerve is in my right wrist. It’s still painful. However because I take these pain killing  tablets now  it’s easier to cope with the pain.

The doctors want to give me a pain killing injection into my wrist. I am very reluctant to agree to this. Months later they want to operate on the twisted nerve in my wrist. I want to ask for more information on this before I take any steps regarding the injection and the operation.

The other day I walked with Peter around the reserve and I took some pictures from the back of our backyard fence. The trees in our backyard have grown a real lot as  can be seen in these pictures. When we moved here in 1994 there were just a few seedlings planted. We never imagined these seedlings would grow as much! The reserve is adjoining our property. Kids play soccer there on certain days. In some of my pictures you can see where the kids have their playing fields. I concentrated on taking photos of a number of huge trees in the area. I love  to go for walks along these trees! There’s also a nice little playground at the other side of the reserve.  When we first moved here to this place, we sometimes went with the grandchildren all the way across the reserve to this little playground. Now all the grandchildren have grown up, the youngest being fifteen. Maybe one year old great-grandson Lucas may get a chance one day to stroll around the reserve. This would be very much to my liking!

    1. Yes, Cat, whenever I have the chance to spend a bit of time there I get a very prayerful feeling just looking at all these beautiful trees. I especially love the tree trunks where the bark is falling off or has nearly completely fallen off. These trunks feel so marvellous to the touch! 🙂

  1. Lovely photos, Uta. And your comment about the passing of time strikes a chord. I remember years ago when my husband’s grandmother told me the older she got the faster time whizzed by. Now I know what she meant. It seems to me the grandchildren are babies for a week or two and then they are teens. My Anna got her first driver’s license today. How is that possible?

This is exactly how I feel, Pat, about the passing of time. Thanks for commenting! 🙂

    1. Thanks Emu/Ian for the comment and for liking all my recent posts. 🙂 Have a lovely weekend! It is already warming up a bit, isn’t it?

Cheerio from Australia, “Aunty” U t a.

  4. You know Aunty Uta, it’s great how you value your walks. My sister (with schizophrenia and obese) does not move, just does not move BUT IT WOULD DO HER SO MUCH GOOD. Inspired by me when we had lunch the other day, she reported she walked “almost to the end of the street, but then I went back”. I asked why only almost. She just wanted the heater & comfort of her flat. & you know, I understand that. I fully do. But we MUST move.

You’re a wonderful inspiration for advanced years.

I’m sorry re the pain you have though. Take the doc’s pain killer!

    1. Hi Noeleen, it’s good that you do have some contact with your sister. Does she live on her own in her flat?
I feel very much better now that I am on strong pain killing tablets. I never thought I’d end up having to use pain killers!
I am still doubtful though that this pain killing injection into my wrist is the right way to go.
      Thanks, Noeleen, for commenting! 🙂

      1. My sister has a boyfriend she has been with about 15 years. They sort of cling onto each other in this life, both have problems. So no, she has company all the time.

  5. Nice pictures, but the first one really does stand out. I don’t know what those fern like trees are but they look wonder leaning over the fence like that, especially when you bring up the picture to full screen.

Here are some more pictures from that reserve where I like to walk nearly every morning! These pictures are a few years old. But the reserve is still wonderful for little walks. And I always enjoy all the trees. Some of them have grown a real lot!
