We celebrated Caroline’s birthday on Monday, the 9th of December. The ice-cream cake was a real treat. I think in Germany a cake like this is called ‘Eis-Bombe’ (ice-bomb).
Mathew’s son Daniel took this picture of us.

Beautiful picture. I love ice cream cake!
It was truly delicious, Linda. π
I love the look of the bread. My favourite is the ‘pane di casa’ or a nice chewy sour dough.
This is exactly what we like too, Gerard. Who says Australia is a boring place when you can have all this? π
What a spectacularly shaped cake! Looks yum! I got a laugh out of the picture of the two men taking pictures π
Fascinating bit of info about Peter being a bricklayer once. Wishing Caroline a very happy birthday indeed π
In an earlier life, when I was a bricklayer, there was a story around, that went like that:
“A mother and a daughter looked out a window and observed a group of toiling men. The daughter asked, ‘Mum, who are those people there?’ And her mother answered, ‘They are bricklayers, my child.’ After a moment of contemplation the daughter asked, ‘Are bricklayers human, too?’ ”
I think this put me off bricklaying forever. ;.)
Children do say the darndest things! So inadvertently profound.
Thanks, Munira. π
This is where the birthday cake was from:
A shop in Victoria Street in Sydney!
Messina is a-port-city-in-northeastern-sicily-on-the-strait-of-messina/
The Syney shop’s trade name is: Gelato de Messina! Homemade on the premises.
This shop is in Victoria Street in Sydney. I blogged about it on the 8th of August.
They make yummy ice-cream/gelato! π
Aha, Sicilian ice cream! A treat indeed π
Absolutely, Munira. π
