Memories of the Past and towards 2017

Time it was
And what a time it was, it was
A time of innocence
A time of confidences

Long ago it must be
I have a photograph
Preserve your memories
They’re all that’s left you.

These are the words of the refrain from the beautiful song “Bookends” by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. A song about two old friends sitting on a park bench – reminiscing.

If you have more time on your hand you can be listening to the full version here.

Last month,  Uta and I had our 60th Wedding anniversary. It was a moment to reflect on our past together.

Just before we got married this photo was taken of us two on the balcony of my mother’s apartment in Berlin. In the meantime, this building has been torn down and a more modern one has taken its place.

img_20170106_0001

In the picture, my future wife looks rather sceptical at me.  Or is it whimsical? We were innocent at the time. We believed in a better world and eleven years after WW 2 we had all reasons to believe in a bright future. Out of that belief grew our confidence to start a family.

In case you are wondering about the plate on the wall, it has been painted by Anselm  Feuerbach and is of his favourite model, Nanna, in a classical pose. This plate is still in the family and belongs to my son now.

img_20170106_0001-2

From then to now it was a time of great changes in all our lives. We moved to Australia and raised a family. Of our four children, our eldest daughter passed away nearly five years ago.

2016 was an especially bad year all round. The election of Donald Trump to be the new President of the US makes for interesting times. Interesting, because he seems to be unpredictable. He loves conflict and will have a fight on his hand, among others, with the American secret services. The establishment believes the advice of the services are sacrosanct without considering that they might have their own agenda.

Terrorism is an old game but since 9/11 it has become global, as so many things have since the end of the Cold War. We shake in our shoes as our governments think of more useless schemes to stop this menace. But all those measurements make the would-be terrorists more cranky.

On a personal level, my health is precarious. At least this is what my doctors tell me. Next week I will know more. At my age, anything can crop up in my body. When I was born my life expectancy was just sixty-four years. Fifteen years later I am still here to tell my stories.

A few years ago, I talked about this with one of my neighbours. We called it bonus time and laughed about it. This was on a Friday and the very next Monday his bonus time came to a sudden end. So, you never know.

In case you wonder what happened to the couple in the first photo. We changed into an old couple day by day without noticing it. And now, sixty years later, we look like this.

We have come a long way and I’m happy that last year we were able to visit Berlin, our hometown, once more. If we are lucky, we will be able to see Berlin again in two years time. Our health allowing, of course.

I nearly forgot. For the fifth time, we became great-grandparents. So the family is growing and we hope the politicians are not mucking up the great-grandchildren’s future.

For 2017 I wish all my followers all the best. Most of all stay healthy because without good health life can be a drag.

  2. gerard oosterman on  said:A very fine piece of reflection, Peter. Life can be unpredictable, which I suppose gives it colour. Helvi and I both wish you good health and all the best for the future.Reply ↓
    • berlioz1935on  said:Thank you, Gerard and Helvi. Life is indeed unpredictable and was ever so. When the cave man stepped out of his cave he did not know whether he will bring home a Mammoth leg or he would we dinner for a Sabretooth Tiger. Today life is decided by Twitter. The American elect will run his country and us by announcing his intentions by twitter. How unpredictable is that? My own future is in the balance and I will hear tomorrow from my doctor was is in stall for me.Reply ↓
  3. Munira on  said:Absolutely loved the song….moved me to tears.
A very happy 2017 to you and Aunty Uta

Every narcissist’s downfall…unending desire

Think about it, mayby it is not good to have desires!

radhikab's avatarRead between the lines

Narcissists keep collecting a lot of bad karma/deeds in their life. Most of these deeds are done because of the desires that a narcissist has. Narcissist’s desires keep them unsatisfied and always in a state of unease. They cannot really surrender to life and the moment that is. They are always either playing a victim or hero about something in the past or they are projecting into the future, working towards a certain goal. Either way, the present moment is not satisfactory for them. They are never present.

The song below is a great warning to all narcissists. Informing them of their impending doom and grounding them to reality. It is a bit dark but a helpful warning to anyone who is too much into their ego.

Song and translation is given below. It is from a Pakistani drama OST. The drama is called ‘Wabaal’ which…

UTA’S DIARY

My check-up in May 2016 (five years after the operation) showed that I was cancer free. So, this was nearly seven years ago!
Unfortunately, in July 2016 Peter found out that he had cancer. And he passed away in December 2020. May he rest in peace. ❤

When I start getting a cold I immediately increase the amount of Vitamin C. I also take some Olive Leaf Extract. And I try to rest as much as possible. As far as I remember I still felt all right on Wednesday, the 6th of May when I went for a walk in the morning. Towards evening that day I started to shiver, the throat felt sore and all my limbs felt very heavy. I also sneezed a lot. So I started with the above treatment and retired to my nice warm bed. Still, I worried a bit, whether I would feel well enough to go to Wollongong early the following morning to keep the appointment with my specialist.

On Thursday Peter drove me to Wollongong for the 9 am appointment. I told the receptionist that I had a cold and weather it was still all right to see the doctor…

100 Reasons to Stop the New WHO Treaty

Please, think about this:

“The proposed amendments would make the WHO’s proclamations legally-binding rather than just advisory recommendations. The changes would institute global digital health certificates, dramatically increase the billions of dollars available to the WHO and enable nations to implement the regulations WITHOUT respect for the dignity, human rights and fundamental freedoms of people.”

This article is an in-depth, very serious analysis of both the proposed “Pandemic Treaty” and the proposed amendments to the International Health Regulations.

Please share this article with everyone you possibly can.

I know that this article is long. Here is the short version:

The World Health Organization is attempting a GLOBAL POWER GRAB by seeking to have the 194 member nations of the World Health Assembly adopt amendments to the International Health Regulations as well as adopt a completely new international agreement commonly referred to as the proposed “Pandemic Treaty.”.

The proposed amendments would make the WHO’s proclamations legally-binding rather than just advisory recommendations. The changes would institute global digital health certificates, dramatically increase the billions of dollars available to…

The Battle for the Mind: How to Exit an Artificial Reality (Cynthia Chung RTF Lecture)

3,213 views Dec 20, 2022“The mind is its own place and, in itself can make a heaven of hell or a hell of heaven.” -John Milton, Paradise Lost It has long been understood that the minds of the people is the principled battleground for controlling (or liberating) humanity from the influences of ignorance, fear and delusion. During the past two years, many citizens have found themselves waking up to a very different “reality” than the long dream once popularly believed to be our world. While this emergence from a living dream has created beautiful potentials for creative solutions to extinguishing fires long ignored, there is still broad confusion about the mental landscape shaping our world. In this Rising Tide Foundation lecture, Cynthia Chung sheds light on some extremely important aspects to this domain of cultural warfare and psychology with a class entitled ‘Gaslighting: The Psychology of Shaping Another’s Reality or How Mass Perception is Manufactured’ at 2pm Eastern Time. The Role of Art

SYMPOSIUM

Symposium The Role of Art in Shaping a Sovereign Citizenry (Jan 15-March 12, 2023)

Posted by MATTHEW EHRETon

It was once better understood that both politics and economics are downstream from culture. Whether the values and passions of a society are tuned to the Good, the Beautiful and the Just or whether they are tempered by the opposites of those virtues will say alot about the aesthetic practices and creative work of the artists that a society values and by which that society is in turn shaped.

In the following Rising Tide Foundation symposium extending from Jan. 15 to March 12, various expressions of art will be explored ranging from literature, poetry, painting, music and drama with a look to examples that increase the depth of our own self-awareness, and improve upon our power to unite the personal passions of each soul with the demands of reason, duty and conscience. This expression of the soul’s journey to maturity is a precondition for any viable nation state or citizenry.

Ecclesiastes 1-12

The book of Ecclesiastes records King Solomon’s intense search to find meaning and fulfillment in life. In this flight, we discover some significant truths—namely, that all worldly things are empty and that life’s pursuits only lead to frustration. After tasting all that this world has to offer, Solomon ultimately concluded that life without God is meaningless.

Mainstream Media Spun These News Stories as Conspiracy Theories — But They Turn Out to Be True

stuartbramhall's avatarThe Most Revolutionary Act

By  Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D.

Political commentator Kim Iversen reviewed the top news stories in 2022 that she said the mainstream media spun as conspiracy theories “simply for saying something that went against the establishment liberal orthodoxy.”

Iversen said the conspiracy theorist label was usually given “simply for saying something that went against the establishment liberal orthodoxy — not because it was quackery rooted in falsehoods.”

“The reality is, so many that they [the mainstream media] claim to be ‘conspiracy theories’ are actually true,” Iversen said, adding:

“Anytime someone’s labeled as a conspiracy theorist, it might just mean it’s time to actually investigate and look a little deeper into whatever…
