Sunday in the Highlands in the midst of Winter!

Last Sunday, the 14th July, we went to Berrima in the highlands. With some very cold wind it felt freezing cold up there. After all we are still in the midst of winter! But we had lunch at the warm and comfortable Bushrangers Bistro:

After Lunch we went to the WELBY GARDEN CENTRE to look there at a special tree!

Peter looks at the tree that was planted in 2012 in memory of out daughter Gabriele. We want to go back in springtime to have another look at it. They tell us, in spring it should be flowering beautifully!

The 5G Myths and Overview — Smart Tech

This is really long, sorry, but it may be of use someday. You get two blogs for one. The 5G Myths Oh boy, since 5G was even talked about, there have been a ton of 5G myths. I mean all kinds of rumors. Not always on the good side, but from what will happen in […]

5G – The Global Human Experiment Without Consent

Alarming Evidence of Harm

stuartbramhall's avatarThe Most Revolutionary Act

By Debra Greene, PhD, Guest Contributor

5G is the next generation of cell phone infrastructure, yet it is categorically different than its predecessors (4G/LTE, 3G, 2G, etc.). It is not a simple upgrade. It is a major increase – and change – in the type of wireless radiation to which we will all be exposed, without consent, whether we use this service or not.

5G builds on existing infrastructure and, in addition, uses extremely high (millimeter-wave) frequencies of 24 gigahertz (GHz) or more. These 5G signals don’t travel far, so antennas will be installed approximately every 2-10 homes in residential neighborhoods. 5G will significantly increase our wireless RF radiation (radio frequency microwave) exposure on a 24/7 and 365 days a year basis.

No Safety Studies

In a February 2019 U.S. Senate hearing, senior telecom executives admitted they have not done any safety testing on 5G, nor do…

A 1%er Looks at Inequality

Chuck Collins is a great example what actually is doable!

stuartbramhall's avatarThe Most Revolutionary Act

This is a presentation Oscar Mayer heir Chuck Collins, author of Born on Third Base, gave on November 9th. At age 26, Collins made the brave decision to give his fortune away. He currently works as a senior scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington DC. In his leisure time, he works to educate 1%ers about inequality and their ethical obligations to society. He has campaigned heavily with Bill Gates senior and other billionaires to retain the estate tax and to oppose tax cuts for the wealthy.

Most of the presentation concerns his efforts to challenge the views of other 1%ers on privilege and the grave threat inequality poses to American democracy and the planet.

The Q&As, in which he talks about Donald Trump’s election upset are the best part of the talk. Collins credits Trump’s victory to the dismissive way Democrats view and talk about the…

On that weekend at Sussex Inlet, Peter and I as well as our daughter Monika remembered our arrival in Australia 60 years ago, that is we arrived at Port Melbourne on the 31st of May 1959 when Monika was barely 6 months old!

Monika’s partner, her two sons and three daughters (one daughter pregnant with her second child!) and also their partners and Monika’s 3 grandchildren and our 59 year old son Martin (Monika’s brother)  were all cebrating with us. Still, there were a few other family members that could not come to Sussex Inlet on that weekend. But some we had been seeing earlier on in May. On the last weekend of June, that is this month, we are going to be in Newcastle to celebrate the 21st birthday of Martin’s younger daughter Lauren.

This is what I wrote in May after we had had quite a few visitors on Mothers Day:

“We had quite a few visitors yesterday for Mothers Day. Come to think of it, all the mothers that were visiting, were already grandmothers. And I am even a great-grandmother! I was so happy, that great-grandons Lucas and Alexander were visiting too yesterday! And Peter actually did hand out roses yesterday to all the visiting mothers. I think they liked this very much.

So, for about three hours in the afternoon we had a large crowd in our house. Daughters Monika and Caroline did most of the catering. This was very relaxing for me.

Monika had come with her daughter Natasha and her son Troy had come with his fiancee Antonina. Troy’s twin-brother Ryan and wife Ebony spent the afternoon with Ebony’s family, but Troy and Nina had brought their nephews Lucas and Alexander along to our plae. Caroline’s husband Matthew and Monika’s partner Mark had come too, and Mark had brought his mother Merl along.”

As far as the 1st of June is concerned, I reflected that on the 1st of June 1959 we had already settled into our accommodation at Bonegilla, Victoria. I wrote about it here:

The Twin’s Birthday this Month

I published this nearly six years ago! 🙂

These pictures were taken on the twins birthday in June of 2011.

Two months ago I published the above pics and in one reply to a comment I said these grandsons looked like little angels when they were kids. And Munira said that she can’t imagine them as kids. Ha, ha! So I replied:

“All right, Munira, as soon as I can scan pics again, I’ll show you how they looked when they were little! The twin’s birthday pics were taken just a few days before I started blogging. My profile pic that I still use, was cropped from that birthday pic where you can see me with Troy.”

Well, their birthday is coming up next week. So here I am publishing what they looked like as kids.
I went through all our photo albums this morning and unfortunately I could not find this…

In 1989 my brother Peter Uwe came  to visit us. He stayed with us for a few weeks. Unfortunately it rained most of the time while he stayed with us at Oak Flats. Only during our one weeks stay with him at Sussex Inlet we had beautiful sunshine. Looking at this blog about Sussex Inlet brings back memories. Here is the link to the blog about Sussex Inlet in April of 1989:

The Lone Pine at Sussex Inlet

Our weekend at Sussex Inlet in 2019

From Friday, the 31st of May until Sunday, the 3rd of June 2019 we were holidaying again  at Sussex Inlet. We were celebrating being 60 years in Australia!

So, the 31st of May 1959 is a special date for us: It is when we arrived at Port Melbourne as migrants from Germany. We had come on the P & O ocean liner STRATHAIRD with two babies: Monika, not quite 6 months old, and Gabriele, who was 21 months. The voyage on the STRATHAIRD had lasted five weeks. Peter had had a birthday on board, so he was 24 and I also was 24 when we arrived in Australia. Now we are both 84!

And daughter Monika is now 60. Son Martin, who was born in Wollongong, NSW, some ten months after our arrival in Australia, is going to be 60 next year in April. Our youngest daughter Caroline, who was also born in Wollongong, turned 40 last December. Daughter Gabriele (Gaby) sadly is no longer with us: She died in July 2012.

Some sixteen family members were able to celebrate the 60th anniversary with us at our favourite holiday place at Sussex Inlet.

This picture of the Lone Pine was taken on our way home, on Sunday the 2nd of June 2019. Peter took a photo of that same tree on another visit in August 2014. We think this tree may have lost a branch since there seems to be another gap that was not there in 2014.img_0444 DSC_0141DSC_0142

I loved to dip my feet into the water when we had a stop at the Lone Pine last Sunday!

Peter took the following two pictures where we were staying last weekend:

This large kangaroo was having a good rest right next to our cabin.

At nighttime we had some lights on when a possum came visiting on our porch.

Sussex Inlet in August 2014

It is fun for me to go back to the memories about our holiday weekend at Sussex Inlet.

auntyuta's avatarAuntyUta

We spent last weekend at Sussex Inlet as you may have seen from my previous posts. There are some more pictures from that weekend that I still want to publish. We had a barbecue on Friday night as well as Saturday. On Sunday we had to leave for home soon after lunch.

Nighttime at Sussex Inlet Nighttime at Sussex Inlet

It did get very dark at Sussex Inlet. Our Units were quite some distance away from the barbecue area. I found it a little bit difficult to walk along the dimly lit grass. I was always grateful when someone helped me to find my way.

Here are sausages, pepper steak, onions and mushrooms. Here are sausages, pepper steak, onions and mushrooms.

Monika and two of her daughters enjoyed doing the barbecue. There were different salads, as for instance potato salad as well as rocket salad and bread rolls.
